Dear Parents and Friends of Loreto Nedlands

Welcome to Term Two. It was lovely to see the happy return of our students last Wednesday. I do hope that you had the opportunity to spend time as a family, visit friends and perhaps take a holiday during the break.

This term as we begin the month of May we call upon our Mother Mary to place a special blessing on all our Mothers, Grandmothers and all those who care for children. It is a true gift from God to be a mother and I thank God every day for the privilege. I encourage our mums to attend our special Mother’s Day Mass next Friday followed by High Tea. Please register your attendance via TryBooking.

We welcome Mr Andrew Hayes to our school community as Year Six teacher, and as a staff we look forward to continuing our journey together in the Spirit of Freedom for the benefit of your child’s education and overall wellbeing.

This week students in Year Four to Six participated in an online wellbeing session “Positive Online Footprint” provided by KidsHelpline and in Week Four, two sessions “Bully Zero” and “Thrive” will be conducted face to face. These sessions have been specifically catered for our students to help them navigate through the various obstacles in life that they face at different times in their life.

As part of our compliance, we held a Lockdown Drill on Tuesday morning. We will be practising an Evacuation Drill next week. These drills are carried out twice a year. It is important that everyone is comfortable and aware of the procedure for carrying out these drills. Hopefully, we will never have to enact a real one.

Students wishing to train for Cross Country are invited to arrive at school by 8:00am on a Monday and Thursday to run the course, followed by a Milo in the staffroom.  If any parents are willing to assist, it would be greatly appreciated. The first session started on Thursday. This will continue until the Interschool competition.

Parents, don’t forget to check our “live” planner available on our school website. This is the most up to date calendar for your information.
