Quoting the words of W.B. Yeats, “A great speaker convinces us not by force of reasoning, but because he is visibly enjoying the beliefs he wants us to accept.” Congratulations to our four finalists, John, Lachlan, Harrison and Harry who represented Loreto Nedlands at the IPSHA Speaker of the Year at Scotch College on Thursday night. Our sincere thanks to Mrs Mary Bizzaca for generously giving her time in the lead-up to work with our students. We thank Mary for her ongoing support over the last three years. Special thanks also to class teachers, Mrs Lori Coenen and Mrs Liz Euchanski.
How blessed we are to have a wonderful group of dads. Our Father’s Day breakfast last week, followed by the celebration of mass, was such a beautiful occasion. The morning began with the aroma of brewed coffee, sizzling bacon and tasty eggs all wrapped up in a scrumptious Bacon and Egg roll prepared by staff and mums. This was then followed by a fierce competition of soccer on our lovely grounds. It all came down to a penalty shootout, won by the students… of course. Our appreciation of fathers and father figures concluded with mass and a special blessing at Holy Rosary. Thank you, Father Gavin, for celebrating the mass. Gatherings such as this foster cherished memories that strengthen family bonds and leave our hearts brimming with joy and gratitude.
There’s nothing quite like a parade; our students did not disappoint us at our annual Book Week parade on Friday, 25th August, which brought many of our favourite characters to life. Thank you to all families and staff for your enthusiastic participation.
Thank you to Mr Rijs for organising a successful Athletics Carnival held on Monday, 28th August. We were blessed with beautiful weather. The spirit of teamwork and camaraderie was clearly evident amongst all students. Team Barry was the winner of the day; however, all students competed to the best of their ability. We look forward to competing at the Interschool Carnival on Tuesday, 19 September, which will be held at WA Athletics Stadium.
On Monday, our Year Five and Six class immersed themselves in their Confirmation Retreat hosted by 24/7 Youth Ministry and on Wednesday, the Very Reverand Father Vincent Glynn and Gather Gavin visited our Confirmation candidates to speak about the sacrament. All candidates on Thursday then received the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Please continue to keep in your prayers our candidates as they prepare for the Sacrament of Confirmation to be celebrated, at Holy Rosary, on Saturday evening on September 16th.
Please go to the Loreto Nedlands Website and peruse the Live school calendar for these and all other events.
Have a lovely weekend.
Kind Regards,
Rika Andres, Principal, Loreto Nedlands
