Dear Parents and Friends of Loreto Nedlands
A warm welcome to all our families, especially those new to the school this term. It has been lovely chatting to all the students about their various term holiday activities. We were certainly blessed with some wonderful spring weather.
You may have noticed that the flag poles have slightly changed. Mr Nick Coenen, has kindly fixed all three footings, and fittings and rearranged the poles to ensure they are in the correct line order. We are so grateful as we are now once again able to raise all three flags in readiness for Remembrance Day.
I hope you agree that the new school fence is aesthetically pleasing and will add further safeguarding measures for our children. Parents, please remember that you will need to enter via the main gate on Webster Street if you arrive outside of drop-off and pick-up hours. Likewise for families with children only in the Early Years who enter via Stanley Street during drop off and pick up times. I will send out a SEQTA message when this comes into effect.
I congratulate all our Year Three and Four students who participated in Oracy this week. Oracy is a great opportunity for our children to practice public speaking skills in the lead up to speaking opportunities in Years Five and Six and beyond.
A reminder that Book Fair commences on Monday. I’m sure you will find some great ideas for Christmas gifts. Please see opening times etc. below.
Our Parents and Friends have a wonderful event organised for this Friday’s Disco – “Out of this World”. Please speak to your parent representative or a P&F representative for further information.
This coming week the Catholic Interschool Year Three to Six Swimming Carnival will be held. It was postponed from Term One due to COVID restrictions. The children are very fortunate to have this opportunity to represent our school. Wishing you all the very best. Thank you to Mr McCallum for coordinating.
Finally, the school looks forward to welcoming all Grandparents on Thursday 27th October to celebrate Grandparents Day. Grandparents you are welcome to pop into our Book Fair display to purchase Christmas gifts for the grand kids.
Kind Regards
Rika Andres, Principal, Loreto Nedlands
