Dear Parents and Friends of Loreto Nedlands
It was an absolute pleasure to welcome the Loreto students to school for the start of the new academic year. Their enthusiasm and joy to be back at school, reunited with friends, meeting their new teachers and connecting with new Loreto families created a positive and vibrant school environment. As staff and parents it is now up to us to ensure the positivity and enthusiasm continues throughout the year.
Welcome to all of you. I look forward to working together with all our families to ensure the students across all year levels will thrive and blossom at Loreto Nedlands in 2020. My time as Acting Principal will be only for the first term but I’m humbled and privileged to be working with such fantastic students, supportive parents and hard working staff.
This year we welcome new staff member, Mrs Alecia Gooch. Alecia has a wealth of teaching experience in upper primary and I’m sure she will be enjoying the challenge of preparing the Year Six students for high school and beyond. Please join me in welcoming Alecia as you see her around the school. We also welcome Cat Hurle our new Social Worker. Her expertise and experience will no doubt be a bonus for our school community.
We welcome a number of new families to Loreto this year. I’m sure they will be made most welcome into our Loreto community. Please join me in welcoming the following new families:
- Hurworth Family (Emma, Year 2)
- Martin Family (Alfie, Year 4 and Sienna, Pre Primary)
- Song Family (Jayden, Year 4)
- Wedge Family (Rose, Pre Primary)
- Whitehouse Family (Evie, Year 1)
Welcome to all of our new Kindy families who have joined us at the start of this year. We look forward to welcoming you into our school community.
The value for Loreto schools across Australia in 2020 is the value of Verity. The Loreto value will be unpacked throughout the year and explained to students at their level. Verity in its most practical form can be translated into doing everything in your life with 100% effort and dedication. Giving everything of yourself and to others on a daily basis in all aspects of your life. This is definitely a value we as parents strive for and one that our children should aspire to attain.
Parents may have noticed considerable works completed around the school during the holidays. We are delighted with the newly painted Year Three and Four rooms and general maintenance of all nature play areas. I am most grateful to Mrs Hunter for her hard work in coordinating the maintenance during the school holidays.
My sincerest thanks to all the staff for their hard work in preparing the classrooms and common areas for the new school year. I am sure you agree that the school is looking wonderful for the start of the year.
Please take note the most updated version of the term planner will always be accessible via the school website. I encourage parents to refer to this document throughout the year.
I look forward to welcoming parents to a number of events commencing this week.
