Principal’s Message – July 23rd, 2020

Dear Parents and Friends of Loreto Nedlands

I trust that everyone had an enjoyable term break. I am sure it was great to be able to get out and enjoy each other’s company and perhaps take a holiday, unlike Term One break. During this time we continue to keep our Eastern State Loreto Schools in our prayers as well as families here who may have family in the Eastern States or overseas. We certainly are very fortunate here in the West.

A reminder to all parents and friends that the Early Year’s Playground is out of bounds after school as per the Parent Handbook. The Parent Code of Conduct has been updated and is available for your perusal on the school website. Upon enrolment, you agree to abide by School and CEWA policies, and the Code of Conduct is one of these policies.

I am happy to announce that we can once again have parent volunteers in the classrooms/canteen etc. Please see your class teachers and any rosters that may have been distributed or placed outside classrooms.

On Monday staff gathered for their yearly Religious Accreditation Professional Development which was titled “Through the Eyes of Ignatius” presented by Mario Bugna. Keep an eye out for our photo which relates to Mario’s presentation. We collaborated as a staff throughout the day and as a result, developed a few Maxims for Loreto.

  • “It’s all about the Little People.”
  • “Respect is reflected in everything we do.”
  • Mary Ward’s quote: “Be such as you appear and appear such as we are.”
  • “Recognise in each child learning moments.”
  • “Empowerment leads to discovery.”
  • “If we allow our imagination to guide us, anything is possible.”
  • “Voice is powerful. Take the time to listen.”

The administration here at Loreto Nedlands is having a restructure, and as a consequence of this, our Business Manager Darrilyn Hunter has decided to move in a different direction.  On behalf of the Loreto Board, Staff, Students and Parents I would like to thank Darrilyn for her outstanding service over the last 13+ years and wish her the very best in her new endeavours.

It was lovely to have the coffee van back this morning. A great day for it, considering it was a little chilly. I’m looking forward to coffee catch-ups on a Thursday with parents while I am on duty in the mornings.

Have a lovely weekend.
