Dear Parents and Friends of Loreto Nedlands
Mary Ward’s virtue of FELICITY: God is rich enough for us all MW 1630
Welcome to “Take Two” Term One 2021. This is a special edition of the Newsletter as we missed out last week. There will be another Newsletter next week which will then return to our fortnightly routine.
It is with great pleasure to be a part of Loreto as we launch the Year of Felicity – facing the year with Optimism. Please see the acronym that was shared with us through Loreto Ministries.
It was lovely to see so many faces via Zoom or TEAMS last Wednesday for our Parent Meetings. All families should have received their Parent Information Booklet from their class teachers. Please take the time to read it if you were unable to attend the meeting.
Term One and Term Two Parent Planners are available on the Loreto Website. There may be times where dates will need to be altered due to unforeseen circumstances. We will endeavour to provide as much notice as possible.
Prior to the student’s commencing, the staff were involved in two Professional Development Days. Day one: CEWA Technology Consultant Gabrielle Trinca presented and engaging, hands-on day utilising iPads. Day two: Helen Davidson from Best Program for Kids, gave practical ideas and strategies for teaching staff to implement in their classroom, based around the art of regulation and childhood social competencies.
Additionally, all staff who had previously undertaken First Aid have completed their two-hour renewal at the end of last year. All staff have completed their Child Protection and Mandatory Reporting Training and renewed their Asthma and Anaphylaxis E-Training.
I also take this opportunity to welcome all our new Staff Members:

The staff celebrated Mass on Thursday, 30th January with Father Gavin in the school chapel and new staff were also commissioned.
Parents, two important documents have been updated on the school website:
- Parent Handbook – updated as of 2/2/2021
- Code of Conduct – updated and is one Code for all stakeholders
It is vital that you take the time to familiarise yourself with these documents. Should you have any questions, please contact the office.
Parents and caregivers, it is important that Appropriate Use of P&F lists is undertaken. The P&F Class representatives will be shortly corresponding with you relating to school matters using class lists, provided by the office. The class list contains personal details of the parents/ guardians of the
children in your child’s class. These details are provided and shared with consent. This information must be kept confidential and used appropriately by parents for the dissemination of class information or P&F related matters only.
We also have some exciting news to share with you. Mrs Katie Sharman and her husband James, are expecting their first child. Katie will be taking maternity leave mid Term Two. The application and interview process for Katie’s replacement will be undertaken later this term.
Our Social Worker, Cat Hurle, has been offered a secondment to CAMHS for Semester One. Cat and I will be conducting interviews next week for a replacement. Cat will ensure a thorough handover is undertaken.
I have received positive feedback from the students and families who have already ordered through Lunchbox Caterers. Overall student response is “Yum! Delicious!”. All details are available on our school website.
Yesterday was our first EduDance session, and I can already see that we can expect a wonderful concert at the end of the term.
Our instrumental program is up and running, I’ve already received a great deal of positive feedback. If you have any queries regarding the instrumental program, please direct them individually to your child’s tutor or our Music Specialist Sarina Davey.
Finally, we’ve had a wonderful start to the year, all things considered. The children have returned happy, eager to learn and taller!
Have a wonderful week.
