Dear Parents and Friends of Loreto Nedlands
I am always impressed with the support that the parents of Loreto Nedlands display to others, especially when there are families experiencing illness or distress, for one reason or another. The support that is generously given displays who we are as a community of faith. The support and assistance that parents and staff offer to our families witnesses the compassion and kindness of Jesus. Our parents and staff are excellent role models of Christian witness. Please continue to pray for all those in our community who are experiencing serious illness and recent bereavement. Our prayers are another level of support that can make a difference to others.
Father of goodness and love,
hear our prayers for the sick members of our community and for all who are in need.
Amid mental and physical suffering may they find consolation in your healing presence. Show your mercy as you close wounds, cure illness, make broken bodies whole and free downcast spirits. May these special people find lasting health and deliverance, and so join us in thanking you for all your gifts. We ask this through the Lord Jesus who healed those who believed.
The Catholic Performing Arts Festival concludes this week with one last performance by the Jubilee Strings as they prepare for the shield finals on Friday afternoon. Congratulations to all the students who participated in the festival; in solos, duets, ensembles or class groups. All awards will be presented at the final assembly of the term on 22nd September. Please note that this assembly will be at 9.30am immediately following the Loreto Mission Day Prayer Service.
We look forward to the annual House Athletics Carnival on Wednesday 11th September. Please try and take some time to come to Melvista Oval to encourage and support the students as they participate in the carnival. Mr Boxsell is busy preparing events for the carnival, which promises to be a fun filled day.
Our next school tour will be held on Thursday 12th September commencing at 9.30am. Please encourage friends or family who may be interested in enrolling their children at Loreto Nedlands to come along for the school tour.
Our very best wishes to the Year One and Year Two students, and their teachers, as they prepare for their Junior Musicals on Thursday 12th September commencing at 6.00pm in the Loreto Performing Arts Centre. The musicals are an absolute joy and the children have been most enthusiastic in their preparations. Please come along and support these young students as they perform in front of an audience. Admission is free, however we would like some indication of numbers attending for seating purposes. Please rsvp to the administration office if you would like to come along.
The Parents and Friends Association were most grateful to Mr Corbett who came along to the recent meeting to discuss his work at the Perth Homeless Support Shelter. The P&F have generously agreed to support the shelter with a donation of Up & Gos, which are always well received by the homeless during their Sunday morning food distribution. In addition, the Loreto Mini Vinnies, and several parents, have been preparing muffins for the homeless for Mr. Corbett to take along on Sunday morning. Parents wishing to donate muffins can leave them at school for Mr Corbett on Friday afternoon. Further information about donations to the Perth Homeless Shelter can be found later in this newsletter.
The celebrations of Loreto Week commence on Monday 23rd September. The week will conclude with a Mission Day Mini-Fete organised by the students to raise money for Loreto Vietnam. The day will commence with a prayer service and assembly and parents are welcome to come along. Further details about Loreto Week can be found in this newsletter.
Best wishes for the week ahead.
