Our School

Loreto Nedlands is an Order Owned single stream Catholic co-educational primary school from Pre-Kindergarten to Year Six. The school was established in 1931 by the Loreto Sisters whose 17th Century founder, Mary Ward, recognised the critical difference that education could make to her troubled world, especially through education, care and the development of faith. The school also forms part of a worldwide network of Loreto schools and is one of seven Loreto schools in Australia.

Located in Perth’s leafy western suburbs, less than 10 kilometres from the Perth CBD, the school is set on almost 2 hectares of glorious grounds, and offers outstanding facilities for our primary school students.

The variety and depth of the school’s education program offers students opportunities to develop spiritually, physically, intellectually, socially and emotionally.

Loreto Nedlands students are confident learners who strive for excellence. Our committed staff work enthusiastically to provide a collaborative and supportive learning and teaching environment centred on Gospel values. Religious Education, prayer and liturgy are integral to the life of the school. Students are encouraged to be of service to others and to confidently embrace life.

The students’ imagination and creativity is developed in the early years with the focus on play based education. The Literacy program is enhanced by the Loreto Young Writers’ Awards, Loreto Speaker of the Year, Debating and Oracy Examinations. The school has a proud tradition in the Performing Arts including liturgical singing, class music lessons, individual tuition, choir, orchestra, ensembles, Junior and Senior Musicals and creative dance. The school’s Student Leadership Program develops the leadership potential of every child nurturing leadership, initiative, a sense of responsibility and generosity of spirit.

Physical Education includes a fitness program, swimming, cross country, athletics and participation in the Independent Primary Schools Heads of Australia (IPSHA) organisation.

The Loreto Charism of Mary Ward is celebrated through focusing on the qualities of freedom, justice, sincerity, verity and felicity.
