School Board

Together with the Principal, the School Board is responsible for ensuring that the religious and educational philosophy of the Institute of the Blessed Virgin Mary (IBVM) is maintained and promoted within the school.

The IBVM appoints members of the Board for an initial term of three years which is renewable and may include members of the Institute, past students, current or past parents, and others independent of the school. The Directors represent a broad mix of skills necessary for the governance of Loreto Nedlands in the areas of education, law, risk, finance, and planning and development.

The Board has four committees: Formation and Review; Finance; Property and Planning; and Marketing.

The Board meets at least twice per term and has, in addition, a retreat at which it considers governance and strategic long-term planning issues.

The Board appoints the Principal with the approval of the Province Leader. The School Board is responsible for the school’s governance and delegates the management and conduct of the school to the Principal. The Principal provides a comprehensive report to the Board at each meeting.

The Loreto Charism of Mary Ward is celebrated through focusing on the qualities of
freedom, justice, sincerity, verity and felicity.
