Why Loreto

Faith & Mission

Faith

Our Catholic faith, in the Loreto tradition, is central to the purpose of Loreto Nedlands. Each child is nurtured and educated to live their lives in relationship with God and embody the Gospel values. All are welcome as members of our Catholic faith community, and we respect and acknowledge people of other religions present in our school.

As a Catholic school, we educate students through the Religious Education Curriculum mandated by Catholic Education Western Australia (CEWA). The curriculum promotes religious literacy and knowledge relevant to the age of the students. Gospel values such as justice, love, compassion, peace, and forgiveness are integrated into all learning areas as well as school life through Wellbeing, Catechesis and Mission work.

Loreto Nedlands works in close partnership with the Holy Rosary parish of Nedlands in the faith and spiritual development of each child.

Mission

The current “Loreto Schools of Australia Mission Statement”, published in 1998 and revised in 2010, can be accessed via the link below. This mission statement is the foundation of the seven Loreto schools in Australia, including Loreto Nedlands.

The Loreto Charism of Mary Ward is celebrated through focusing on the qualities of
freedom, justice, sincerity, verity and felicity.
